Minutes -- Consultative Meeting 4-26-07

UFT
Consultative Team Meeting
Minutes
Agenda -- April 26, 2007

I SBO Vote & Professional Periods
-- Creating a date for the UFT meeting and the vote for SLC meetings
-- Is there a possibility to have 2 SLC meetings and the third a professional period?
The date for the SBO vote is May 11, 2007. It will occur in the auditorium at 3:30. We will also vote on comp-time positions. With regards to having the SLC meeting divided, Nigel indicated that the result of that decision would be that communities would have less control to plan their activities and how they want to utilize their time. In addition, having common SLC time seemed unlikely because of scheduling difficulties.

II Comp-time positions
-- Can programmers receive more than 2 hours?
We will vote on increasing the programmers’ allotment of hours, but the reality is that the increase is contingent on the budget.

III School Safety – A lack of safety in the building
-- Students exit from the gym exits
-- People attempt to assault our students in the lobby
-- Unused lockers are not secured
A student was assaulted in the lobby. At first Nigel was surprised to hear of this for the first time. After some research, the student was assaulted by his brother. All necessary actions were done, including contacting child services. Questions were raised if the brother had signed and if the safety plan was followed correctly.

IV Senior Prom
-- Setting up protocols for the prom
It was agreed that in light of the problems during the senior trip, seniors should be given protocols for behavior during the senior prom. In addition, sanctions for misbehavior could be reviewed during Advisory periods.
